Spain and Portugal rule in Mundialito opening

La Roja and the hosts clinch convincing victories over Germany (8-1) and China (2-5) in Portimao?s Praia da Rocha

Germany unable to counteract Spaniard inspiration

Spain keep comfortably established in a really sweet moment. After their amazing consecution of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow, Joaquin Alonso’s lads have firmly stepped in this Mundialito, inflicting Germany a heavy defeat (8-1) to get themselves on top of the table in Portimão.

Yet from a very early stage, the Spaniards set clear that they had not come here for an Algarve vacation, and took on Germany with the idea of getting ahead as soon as possible. With four goals in the first 15 minutes, it was really hard for the Mannschaft to cope with La Roja’s tremendous pace. Böringschulte’s team did not want to lose face to the game that early, and Weirauch cut the distance, opening his side’s best minutes in the match.

Unfortunately for them, that was not enough to challenge the Spaniard inspiration. After the second break, Alonso’s side geared up again and finished any German chance with four goals (Antonio, Llorenç (2) and Sidi), to build up the 8-1 that gives them the lead, at least momentarily, in Portimão.

Goals: 1-0: Juanma, min. 7 (1); 2-0: Amarelle, min. 3 (1); 3-0: Pajon, min. 11 (2); 4-0: Amarelle, min. 10 (2); 4-1: Weirauch, min. 7 (2); 5-1: Antonio, min. 11 (3); 6-1: Llorenç, min. 6 (3); 7-1: Llorenç, min. 6 (3); 8-1: Sidi, min. 1 (3)

Madjer puts Portugal into orbit

It was key for Portugal to have a satisfying first step in the BSWW Mundialito in Portimão. The game against China meant the first time Ze Miguel’s lads hit the sand again after the bitter defeat against France in Moscow, which left the Portuguese out of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Tahiti 2013. After that fateful day, current Euro Beach Soccer Cup runner ups needed to find their best sensations back, and doing it in front of their own crowd added extra pressure.

Moreover, China was not going to make the afternoon any easier for the Lusitanian squad,  as Ross Ongaro’s side wanted to make the most of this chance of taking part in such a prestigious competition as the Mundialito. Fortunately for the hosts, though, banking on such a terrific player as Madjer means much more than a life insurance… He himself opened the score for Portugal, and untied things again in the second period after Han’s equalizer.

That second advantage would get Ze Miguel’s lads definitely ahead, with Vaz taking a penalty kick to widen the gap to 1-3. Despite Cai’s 2-3, Portugal was already on the right track, and finished the game in the third period, with Jordan and Madjer closing the 2-5 to have the team up in the table. Tomorrow, the hosts need to stay tuned against Germany to capture three new points and head for the last match against Spain on Sunday in full conditions.

Goals: 0-1: Madjer, min. 10 (1); 1-1: Han, min. 4 (1); 1-2: Madjer, min. 8 (2); 1-3: Vaz, min. 0 (2); 2-3: Cai, min. 0 (2); 2-4: Jordan, min. 11 (3); 2-5: Madjer, min. 10 (3)
