The two favourites to face in decider

After two new convincing victories today, Portugal and Spain will battle tomorrow for this XVII BSWW Mundialito

Spain keep punishing their opponents

The Spanish National team keeps firmly marching on in this BSWW Mundialito taking place this weekend in Portimão. After their loud victory yesterday over Germany, Joaquín Alonso’s thrashed China today, again scoring 8 goals but, this time, without conceding a single one. The result, then, keeps them on top of the table, although these figures are little more than meaningful ahead of the decider tomorrow against Portugal. Only a victory against the host would have them seizing the cup.

People in the stadium saw the same pattern working wonderfully again for the Spaniards. Indeed, they had it working even better today, as by the end of the first period the result was already 4-0 thanks to Juanma’s double and the hits by Pajón and Amarelle. After that multiple stroke, things got fairly unbalanced for Spain, who changed a bit their playing style, now looking for a more multiple-passing game.

That did not mean, though, that goals stopped falling on their favour, and Antonio and Pajón in the second period, and Amarelle and Sidi in the third, closed a thundering score that keeps La Roja on top of the table thanks to a better goal-average. Notwithstanding these figures are little more than meaningless ahead the decider tomorrow, as only the winner of tomorrow’s Portugal-Spain will be the champion of this BSWW Mundialito.

Goals: 1-0: Juanma, min. 8 (1); 2-0: Pajon, min. 5 (1); 3-0: Juanma, min. 2 (1); 4-0: Amarelle, min. 1 (1); 5-0: Antonio, min. 9 (2); 6-0: Pajon, min. 0 (2); 7-0: Amarelle, min. 9 (3); 8-0: Sidi, min. 5 (3)

Third time take off for Portugal against Germany

Portugal fully earned the chance to battle Spain tomorrow on equal terms for their fourth Mundialito, after a solid win today over Germany. Although the Germans offered a tight resistance during the first two periods of the game, even having the score 2-1  for most of the second time, the last 12 minutes meant de definitive take off for Ze Miguel’s lads, who could not let the thousands of supporters coming to Praia da Rocha down.

Marinho was the most outstanding player of the first period. The experienced footballer got his team 2-0 ahead in that first minutes, what meant the Portuguese taking a lead they would never let go of. Despite the result, Germany felt confident on their possibilities and made the hosts live a quite uneasy afternoon, with Thürk tightening things with the 2-1. The Mannschaft kept trying, but they would never found the Portuguese nets again. Instead, Luiz Vaz restored the 2-goal gap to let his side reach the second break in a much more comfortable position.

Again in the third period, the hosts found their best version today, and finished the match with three goals. The first of them came thanks to a terrific coast-to-coast missile sent by Graça, in what could be arguably considered one of the tournament’s most spectacular goals so far. In the last minute, Madjer finally got his name on the chart to equal Spanish maestro Amarelle at the head of top-scorers chart, and Bruno Novo sent a penalty-kick in to close this second act in Portimão, having things absolutely ready for a breathtaking fight tomorrow against Spain. There is only one way to the Cup: winning Spain.

Goals: 1-0: Marinho, min. 4 (1); 2-0: Marinho, min. 2(1); 2-1: Thürk, min. 11 (2); 3-1: Luis Vaz, min. 11 (2) ; 4-1 : Graça, min. 11 (3) ; 5-1 : Madjer, min. 0 (3) ; 6-1 : Bruno Novo, min. 0 (3) ;
