Back-to-back victories for Switzerland
Switzerland win 5-4 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the match.
Day one victors Switzerland and Morocco went head to head on the second day of action in Costa del Sol.
It was the Swiss who had the advantage at the end of the opening 12 minutes, as Steinemann’s strike rippled the back of the Moroccan net with less than half of the first period remaining.
The tides would turn in the second period as Manar’s quick brace put the Moroccans ahead for the first time in the encounter, granting his nation a one-goal advantage heading into the third period.
More drama occurred in the third period as strikes from Spacca and Hodel turned the match on its head again, but with less than a minute to play El Bidouri struck to send the match to extra-time and after a goalless three minutes, went to penalties.
Switzerland came out on top in the shootout as the Swiss continued their undefeated streak at the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup.
Late winner keeps USA title hopes alive
USA beat El Salvador 5-4.
With both teams looking for their first win of the competition, El Salvador and USA battled it out for vital points.
The Salvadorans got off to a positive start, as Cerna’s strike broke the deadlock inside the first four minutes. With the first period coming to a close and El Salvador ahead, Franco scored a seconds before the whistle to bring USA back on level terms.
Six goals were scored in the second phase of play, with both teams scoring three times each. The sides were still level with one period remaining and were looking for a pivotal goal.
As the match looked to be heading to an additional three minutes in El Salvador, USA captain Perea found the winner with five seconds to play and capture all three points for the Americans.
