The coaches and captains of the four teams highlight the pride it means to take part in such a prestigious event such as the Mundialito
The XIXth Mundialito Futebol de Praia is ready for take-off. Final training sessions today had the teams testing last minutes sensations, which they highlighted during the press conference today.
Mario Narciso and Madjer, representing hosts Portugal, Marcelo Mendes and Osmar Moreira, Japan coach and captain, Tamasz Weisz and Mark Ughy, from Hungary, and Eddie Soto and Nick Perera, USA’s coach and captain, wanted to send out the message that being here, in the XIXth edition of the Mundialito, is a real honour.
But they will not be contented with just taking part in it, as they assured. They are all here with one objective: being crowned champions. Portugal, the most experienced side, pointed that they only hit the sand thinking on the victory, regardless they are the hosts or not. “We do not think on anything else than winning before every game”, Madjer voiced.
Japan, in their second consecutive participation, and their new coach Marcelo Mendes, target the highest places, too, as CONCACAF champions United States want to prove they keep growing as a team, and this very special opportunity to do so. Hungary, in turn, will use this competitive event to show the world they are ready for the highest goals in the European Beach Soccer.
