The Emirati used a big 3rd period to defeat the Golden Team 6-3 in Dubai on the 16th of January
The 6-3 victory for the home side was tight throughout and showcased two top-notch squads who finished a grueling and challenging training camp on the 17th of January. A training camp will inevitably be a success when competitive exhibition matches against world-class teams are involved and that is exactly what happened over the past week in Dubai. This marquee matchup took place on Friday the 16th, just before the camp closed.
Neither side was able to pull away until three final period goals and a defensive shutout gave the UAE enough space to breathe easy and secure the 6-3 win. The first period was played to a draw, 1-1, as the savvy vets Adel, for the home team, and Berkes, for the European squad, netted the goals. Much like the opening frame, the second period was played evenly, however the offenses were twice as active, scoring four total goals, two from each team. The final period saw an increase in defensive intensity from the Asian team and they found the back of the net three times to propel them to the 6-3 victory.
The pre-season camp was much needed for both teams as they are looking ahead to a full and important beach soccer season, with Hungary playing in the inaugural European Games Baku 2015 as well Division A in the Euro Beach Soccer League after winning the Promotion Final last August, and the UAE has hopes of playing in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015. The Emirati must first qualify and they will try to do so in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015 – AFC Qualifier Doha.
