The town hall of Torredembarra hosted the local press ahead of the competition that starts on Friday

With just days until the Llorenç Beach Soccer Cup in Torredembarra, members of the media were invited to a press conference at the town hall at 11:30am (local time) on Monday morning.

BSWW Vice-President Gabino Renales was in attendance, as well as Councillor for Sport in Torredembarra, Raúl Garcia, Councillor for Tourism, Marina Riudeubas, and of course, the Spanish beach soccer legend and former World’s Best Player, Llorenç Gómez.

Llorenç welcomed the press and said that the first edition of the youth competition organised under his name in his home town was, “a huge pleasure personally. This is the first edition of the event, the first official youth event in Spain, but the objective is to grow, add more teams and to incorporate a women’s category too.”

He thanked Beach Soccer Worldwide and the Torredembarra local council for their support, citing that many years of working together means that they are happy and proud of how the event is being organised.

BSWW Vice-President Gabino Renales then went on to reiterate the long relationship between beach soccer and the town of Torredembarra. “We have had huge beach soccer events here and it’s good to be back. Thank you very much everyone involved in the organisation of the Llorenç Beach Soccer Cup, an event that represents more than just an event, as it transmits that values of the growth of the sport from one of the most important beach soccer players ever.”

The brand-new beach soccer youth competition, the Llorenç Beach Soccer Cup, kicks off this Friday on the Catalan coast in the north of Spain.
