CONFIRMED: The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2015 comes back to Europe, traveling to Gaia (Porto), in the north of the country
The 2015 edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will go to Gaia (Porto). The bid presented by the Portuguese Football Association was finally the chosen to host the 2015 of the showdown. The decision was ratified during the FIFA Congress taking place in Mauritius, and was made official by FIFA.
The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, after the upcoming edition to take place next September in Papeete (Tahiti) will then come back to Europe, where two other editions have been held so far (Marseille 2008 and Ravenna-Italy 2011).
Portugal was finally selected among the candidacies from Thailand, Switzerland, France, El Salvador, Ecuador, Hungary, Senegal, Sweden, Russia and Brazil, which had also passed the different stages of the bidding process.
After the official announcement, the Secretário de Estado do Desporto e Juventude, Emídio Guerreiro, highlighted that ?this is a new recognition to Portugal?s organizing capacities, and, specifically, the truthfulness of the Federação Portuguesa de Futebol (Portuguese FA)?.
