Whereas the Portuguese side earned more points in the ranking, the Verdeamarela has not lost one single game in the year
2016 is over and now the time comes for a full and thorough analysis of the season by the teams. During those days, and thinking on the upcoming season, coaches and football associations think and debate on what was what their teams did great, and what aspects can be improved.
The Beach Soccer Worldwide 2016 Rankings stand as a great tool to analyse how beach soccer teams performed during the season, and its number left us some very interesting things.
On top of the year results we have the defending World Champions, Portugal, who have collected up to 1210 points.
Their wins at Copa Pílsener, Sal Beach Soccer Cup and Euro Beach Soccer Cup Belgrade, together with excellent results in both the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier, the Euro Beach Soccer League and the BSWW Mundialito Cascais gave Mario Narciso’s laads enough points to top the table.
The second of the list, and obviously “handicapped” for not having played that many events and matches during the year, is Brazil, with 1020 points who are the only team that have won every single game, every single competition, they have been taking part in.
Gilberto’s side has been playing at a stunning level all through the year, winning five competitions: The Campeonato Sul-Americano, The BSWW Mundialito Cascais, the Supercopa das Nações and the Samsung Beach Soccer intercontinental Cup Dubai 2016, before closing a perfect year claiming the Copa América Fútbol Playa 2016. And they have been doing all that on a very spectacular fashion, displaying a unique beach soccer style none of their opponents have been able to counteract.
Other teams that have accomplished a laudable set of results were Russia, who ends the season with the third best records or Poland, whose victory at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup made them the fourth best team of 2016, with 814 points.
Switzerland close the best 5 teams of the year, whereas Italy, Iran, EBSL Champions Ukraine, Japan and Paraguay place themselves amongst the top 10 in the season.
