Russia, Loko and Kristall add second win

The three sides remain perfect after day 2 and seal berth at the semi-finals of the InterCup Saint Petersburg 2021

The Russian National side, BSC Lokomotiv and BSC Kristall sealed a new win in the second match day of the InterCup Saint Petersburg 2021, confirming their positions atop the standings of the competition.

In the first game of the day, Russia bent CSKA with a rather clear 8-2, although it was not until the last half of the game that Likhachev’s lads secured a wide distance.

Notwithstanding, the Russian National Side managed to be ahead for most of the minutes of the game. Although Petr Kapkov’s bicycle kick quickly neutralized Novikov’s opener for Russia, the two-times World champions increased the pace and had things 3-1 up. Russia  would not let CSKA anywhere close after that, and consistently walked towards a comfortable win that leaves them at the highest position of group B.

Following Likhachev’s side, the defending Euro Winners Cup winners BSC Kristall bagged their sixth points, too, thanks to a wide 6-2 win over Krylia Sovetov.

It took the Schirinzi-coached side some minutes to open the score, but after Zharikov’s first hid, Kristall would never stop punishing their opponents. Kayla Sovetov could pull two goals back in the last minutes of the game, but it was already too late for the Samara side, who will not be able to keep fighting for the Cup.

In Group A, Lokomotiv was the other team to reach the semi-finals, following a stout 2-7 victory over the Belarusian National side. The Muscovites took an early lead in the game, with Peletsky making the most of a corner kick strategy move.

Gapon cut the distance in half for Belarus After Vinogradov’s 2-0, but Mamadiev suffocated the reaction straightaway, getting Lokomotiv back on their track for a 4-0 run that left things already impossible for Nico’s men.

In the last game of the day, Delta could recover from yesterday’s defeat and get back in the race for semi-finals thanks to a 4-1 win over Lex, who are left without options to qualify. The reaction from the Saratov side after Lex’s third-period equalizer got them key three points that allow them to fight for the semi-finals in an all-or-nothing battle today against Belarus.
