USA secured second, as Bahamas took third
Final
The final of the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship saw El Salvador take on Guatemala, which saw the Salvadorans secure a 2-1 victory to take home the title. It was the Guatemalan side who took the lead in the fixture through Miguel González in the opening period, but Robles levelled scoring in the match towards the end of the period and El Salvador goalkeeper Najera slammed the ball into the top corner in the second period which would be the match winner.
Third place match
It was USA who would take third place at this year’s competition, defeating host nation Bahamas 6-2 in the battle for bronze. All six of the American goals were scored by different players with Perea, Chavez, Akol, Valcarcel, Carvalho and Silveira all getting their names on the scoresheet, as Butler and Julmis found the net for Bahamas.
Individual awards
The ‘Best Player Award’ and ‘Top Scorer Award’ were won by El Salvador’s Emerson Cerna, the ‘Best Goalkeeper Award’ was given to Eliodoro Portillo from El Salvador, and Bahamas player Wood Julmis was crowned the winner of the ‘Youth Player Award’.
