El Salvador, Guatemala, USA and Panama victorious on the opening day
The CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship 2025 got started at the Malcolm Park Beach Soccer Facility in Nassau, Bahamas as eight nations look to secure places at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025.
Group A
El Salvador got off to a flying start in Group A, after defeating Costa Rica 6-1. Castro and Cerna both secured braces for the Salvadoran side, as Urbina and González each netted one for their nation. Costa Rica’s only goal of the match came courtesy of Mora, as El Salvador had an emphatic beginning to their campaign in Bahamas.
Guatemala also took home three points on the opening day, winning 4-3 against Mexico. Jose Lem netted twice in the fixture for the winning team as Perez and Crocker also scored for the Guatemalans. Maldonado scored twice for the Mexican side as Acevedo also scored for his nation, but it wasn’t enough for Mexico on day one.
Group B
The match between USA and Trinidad & Tobago had to be settled on penalties, as the teams were sat at 2-2 after normal time and extra-time. USA’s goals in the match came from Canale and Silveira, while Woodley and Joseph converted for Trinidad & Tobago. Canale fired home the winning penalty for USA, giving his nation one point in their opening match.
Panama and hosts Bahamas also went to a penalty-shootout, with Panama winning 4-3 from spot kicks. The host nation found themselves 2-0 ahead in the match through Ferguson and Julmis, before Maquensi and Kelly both scored for the Panamanians. A point on the board for Panama at the 2025 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship.
