Movers of the Month August – Russia and Brazil!

Newly-crowned world champions Russia and Intercontinental Cup winners Brazil shoot up rankings


The Movers of the Month award is back! After an intense month full of the very beach soccer in its most impressive form, the Official Rankings have seen a lot of rearrangement.

Following their historic victory at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Russia dethrone Portugal at the top the Official World Ranking and claim the August Mover of the Month title. They also overtake former World Champions Brazil, who now sit in third.

Italy and Spain move down two places each, from third and fifth to fifth and seventh, while after reaching the knockout stages of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Japan (fourth), Switzerland (sixth), Senegal (eighth) and Uruguay (ninth) all move up two places to cement their positions in the world’s top ten teams.

The biggest jump was made by Mozambique who impressed on their FBSWC debut, moving straight into 22nd place.

In the women’s table, their triumph in the first-ever edition of the Intercontinental Cup in Moscow sees Brazil jump into second in the World Ranking, leapfrogging England, Russia, Switzerland and Mexico.

Spain remain top of the Women’s Official Ranking while England, despite winning the Regular Stage of the Women’s EBSL, sink two places to fourth.

USA move up three places from eighth to an impressive fifth after their appearance at the maiden edition of the Women’s Intercontinental Cup in Moscow.
