Gilberto says goodbye to the Brazil National Team

The successful cycle of the decorated coach ahead of the Verdeamarela came to an end


One of the most prestigious and successful coaches in the beach soccer panorama, Gilberto Costa, has concluded his spell ahead of the Brazilian National Team, where he has spent the last six years.

The the three-times Best Coach in the World leaves after these seasons some records that will be very hard to parallel: 106 wins in 110 games, a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup (2017), two Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cups ( 2016 and 2017), Golden Medal at the World Beach Games (2019), two times Copa America winner and three-times FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup CONMEBOL Qualifier winner.

I am very thankful for having been given the possibility to represent my country as National Beach Soccer coach. I want to thank everybody involved in these six years, including technical staff, players, and managers. And also, I want to thank our opponents for the battles and the lessons they have taught us. And I want to thank everybody who invested just one second of their lives to support us. Please excuse my mistakes and my flaws, and I wish the best of luck to the new coach of our National Team“, Gilberto said.

In an excluding society like the one we live in, beach soccer is a sport that transformed many lifes since the beginning, giving inclusion and dignity to many people, of which I am one. I think the time has come for new ideas and a new way of coaching the National Team“, he added.
