We like the human being he is, and that’s why we admire him and follow him as a leader“, the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, said. “These successful 10 years would not have been possible without him“, he added.
In turn, the country’s Prime Minister, highlighted all what the Portuguese Football, under Gomes’ presidency, has achieved over the last decade, including Football Euros, a FIFA Futsal World Cup, and two FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups and four Euro Beach Soccer Legues. “I want to thank Fernando Gomes for his contribution in increasing the prestige of Portugal all around the world“, he said.
Joan Cusco, president of BSWW added that “Fernando has been instrumental to turn Portugal into one of the brightest nations in the world of football. His professional and talented vision has made the Portuguese FA a model for all the football federations in the world, and we are delighted that he showed such a great commitment with beach soccer, which he embraced thoroughly. And the results could not be better, with the team becoming one of the most successful and professional structures in the planet. I can only congratulate him wholeheartedly for all what he has achieved and, most specially, for how he has inspired everyone around him.”
