The defending champions and the Cuscatlecos are the best of the Juegos Bolivarianos de Playa after two matchdays
A consistent victory by Paraguay had the Guaraní commanding the table in group A of the Juegos Bolivarianos de Playa taking place in Huanchaco, Perú. The defending champions used an uncontestable 6-0 run to secure the win, after the Dominican Republic cut the distance to 2-1 midway half second leg. The other fixture in Group A had Chile confirming they will try to make the most of their options, too, after their extra-time defeat to Paraguay in the opening day. With the Dominican Republic out of the race, Peru, Chile and Paraguay will square off in the last group stage day to earn the ticket to the semifinals.
In Group B, El Salvador clinched their second win, and full 6 points booty, after edging a combative Venezuela. After two periods in which the score did not move, everything happened in the last frame, with Abraham and Elmer pushing the Cuscatlecos 3-0 ahead in just four minutes, and Vaamonde trying to put Venezuela back in the fight by pulling one back. This victory gets Gallo’s lads onto next round of this Juegos Bolivarianos de Playa 2014.
In the other game of this group B, Ecuador and Bolivia offered the crowd an 18-goal thriller, with the Tri knowing how to command the score to earn the points. The brilliant performance by Daniel Cedeño, with 5 goals that make him eventual top scorer of the tournament, was the key for the Ecuadorians, who will battle El Salvador to access the semifinals as the best in the group. No options are left, instead, for Venezuela and Bolivia.
