El Salvador-Chile and Paraguay-Ecuador will determine the finalists of the Juegos Bolivarianos de Playa in Huanchaco (Peru)
Paraguay and Chile, in Group A, and El Salvador and Ecuador, in Group B, are the four semifinalists of the Juegos Bolivarianos de Playa, after the last group stage matchday in Huanchaco (Perú).
The Guaraní, defending champions of the Juegos Bolivarianos, upset the hosts Peru to gain access to the semifinals, at the time they retained the highest place in Group A. Despite the Peruvian reaction in the second frame, equalizing the 0-2, Paraguay stood stronger in the final leg, with Pedro Moran rounding his hat trick and Zayas and Rivas leaving the hosts with no options.
Still in group A, just one goal got Chile through, too, after the Dominican Republic reaction fell short, and their second place in the group will have them facing El Salvador for a place in the final.
Things were quite more clear cut in Group B, where both Salvadorans and Ecuadorians were already qualified for the semifinals. The only thing that was still at stake, although very important, was the first place in the group, and the right to tackle the second-place finisher in Group A. That right ended up in El Salvador’s hands, after a consistent 5-2 win over the Tri. Despite Ecuador hit first, and managed to stay ahead for most of the first period, the Cuscatleco geared up in the second frame and a 4-0 run got them clinching the top of the table.
