Play-off stage began today at the Eliminatorias CONMEBOL, sending Uruguay and Perú to fight for 7th and Venezuela clinching 9th over Bolivia
The play-offs of these Eliminatorias CONMEBOL al Mundial de Fútbol Playa de la FIFA – Asunción 2017 (CONMEBOL Qualifier for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017)kicked-off in style, with two names prevailing over the rest: Chile and Colombia, who will square off on Sunday for the 5th place in the competition.
La Roja clearly ruled over Perú in a game that definitely took off for the Chileans with an uncontainable 5-0 run in the second period. Although Peru resisted the strike exchange in the first period, the Blanquirroja was unable to react to that beach soccer display by their opponents, and ended up with no chances to counteract Chile’s efforts in the game.
In turn, Colombia upset Uruguay with a solid and efficient performance. Everything worked today for the Cafeteros, with sound defense and timely attack to give Uruguay no chances. After building a comfortable advantage, the Colombians resisted the strike exchange in the third period to confirm that they will keep fighting for the fifth place in this CONMEBOL Qualifier.
In the first game of the day, Venezuela snatched the win for the ninth position in the competition. Despite the slow start, Centeno stood up in the second period to have their team commanding comfortably with a laudable hat-trick. Three more goals by La Vinotinto in the final period definitely sealed the win, giving Venezuela, who came third at the last Copa America, a little relief in a very disappointing CONMEBOL Qualifier for them.
