The 6th edition of the competition will feature both men’s and women’s divisions
The Beach Soccer Commission and the Development Area of AUF (Uruguay Football Association) announced this week the 6th edition of the Uruguayan National League, involving both Men’s and Women’s divisions, which is set to begin in late February.
Fourteen teams will square off in the men’s competition: Danubio, Parque Cubano, Cerrito, Fénix, Albion, defending champions Malvin, Boston River, Keguay, Los Halcones, Wanderers, Racing, Progreso Rampla Jrs y Parque del Plata.
Divided in three groups, with the best two of each group progressing to the Torneo Apertura and Torneo Clausura of the Copa Uruguay. The eight teams that have not qualified will have a second chance, with the best two qualifying for the Torneo Clausura through the Copa Competencia, following the format stablished last season.
The women’s competition has still not defined the participating teams, but will kick-off on the 26th of February.
The official draw of the competition, to take place this coming 3rd of February, will determine the final composition of the groups.
