Top five teams dominate in Solothurn

The latest installment of the Swiss Beach Soccer league saw plenty of goals and unexpected victories and losses

The top five teams the Suziki Swiss Beach Soccer League, GC Beach Soccer, BSC Scorpions Basel, BSC Sabel Dancers, BSC Chargers Baselland, and BSC Havana Shots were all victorious to improve their positions for the league championship.

The Swiss Beach Soccer League had its fifth stage take place in Solothurn on July 6th and 7th. The hosts, currently in sixth place in the league standings, the BSC Solothurn Axes, lost their opening game, a derby match, against BSC Bienne by a score of 11-5 on Saturday. Sunday saw BSC Solothurn lose against the very talented BSC Sable Dancers, who are very much in contention for the Swiss Beach Soccer League Championship, sitting in third place.

The biggest surprise of the weekend was the extraordinary victory and effort by Neuchatel Xamax over last years´ league semi-finalists, Kings Beach Emmen. Neuchatel Xamax lost to BSC Chargers 4-9 early on Saturday, but redeemed themselves with the upset, narrowly defeating Kings Beach Emmen by a score of 9-8. La Cote had a very encouraging Saturday also, as they secured their first league points, by defeating BSC Basileia, 8-7. La Cote is tied with BSC Thun, each with three points.
