Sambenedettese, champions of the Coppa Italia

The blu-and-red edge Catania (4-6) in the final to claim their first cup in Viareggio

Sambenedettese Beach Soccer became the champions of the Coppa Italia for the first time in their history. The Di Lorenzo?steered side bent the two-times champions Catania to claim the cup on the sand of the Matteo Valenti Beach Stadium of Viareggio, closing in the best fashion a laudable trajectory in the tournament.

With a consistent victory over the Sicilian, the blue-and-red confirmed the surprise they had been anticipating during the whole event. With three victories in three matches in the first stage of the competition, including a penalty kick winner over defending champions Viareggio, Sambenedettese reached the final on Sunday, where they were to fight another of the giants of the Italian Beach Soccer, Catania.

Hosts Viareggio, then, could not reedit the trophy, but brilliantly bet Serie A champions Terracina to keep the third place in the tournament.

Fourteen teams have taken part in this edition of the Coppa Italia, organized by the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti-FIGC, featuring Viareggio, Terracina, Lamezia Terme, Belpassese, Canalicchio Ct, Alma Fano, Milano, Mare di Roma, Panarea Cz, Livorno, Friuli, Barletta, besides the finalists Sambenedettese and Catania.
