Portugal and Netherlands prevail in Terracina

Dutch and Portuguese top groups 1 and 2 in Division A, as Israel claims the Cup in Division B after edging Turkey

Netherlands seize second victory and awaits group dénouement

It was soon made clear that Netherlands would not have not enough with being just one more in the Division A pool of this season?s Euro Beach Soccer League, and they found no better way to voice it than winning their first tournament in the top-flight league. Despite the harsh beginning they were faced to, contesting Ukraine, the Orange want to go all the way and target the Superfinal. Beyond the cup they seized, the six points collected in this first stage in Division A got them in a really right track to achieve so.

Two goals in the first three minutes, gave the game a true Orange colour already. And despite Raj pulled one back for Romania, the truth is that the Netherlanders were in control of the game at all moment.

Again in the first stage of the second period, Van Gessel and Ax would widen the distance, with Koswal to follow for the 1-5 at the beginning of the last time. Holland were comfortably cruising to their second victory in the tournament, after their excellent display yesterday against the hosts, and there was little left to say for Romania, whose last conquest was a stunning missile the captain Ionel Poste fired home from the distance. This last hit was far not enough to change the fixture?s status quo, and Kokmeijer?s side grasped three more points that, together with Italy?s win, gets them the cup in the Group 1 (Division A) in this EBSL Terracina 2013.

Goals: 0-1: Klijbroek, min. 8 (1); 0-2: Van der Geest, min. 8 (1); 1-2: Raj, min. 5 (1); 1-3: Van Gessel, min. 8 (2); 1-4: Ax, min. 7 (2);     1-5: Koswal, min. 10 (3); 2-5: I. Poste, min. 3 (3);

Belarus open their records in Division A

Belarus bagged their first three units in their Division A life, following a narrow win over Germany in this last day at the Euro Beach Soccer League Terracina 2013.

None of the contenders had any chance to the highest places of the group, already seized by two beach soccer giants such as Russia and Portugal, but the three points at stake, and the opportunity to start skipping an eventual promotional final and maximizing the possibilities to be amongst the best eight was already a significant prize to fight for.

The game was really balanced, and began in the most unfortunate fashion for the Belarusian, with Davidovich deflecting the ball to the back of his own nets just 11 seconds into the match. Bogaichuk?s lads reacted rather quickly, with Bryshtsel?s equalizer, and the 1-1 remained for more than one full period. Midway second leg, Bokach netted the 2-1 for Belarus, and Bryshtsel widened the gap with the 3-1 just one minute into last leg. Despite a full period was yet to be played, that two hits made the difference, giving the red side three points that could end being really meaningful in the season.

Goals: 0-1: Davidovich (og), min. 11 (1); 1-1: Bryshtsel, min. 8 (1); 2-1: Bokach, min. 4 (2); 3-1: Bryshtsel, min. 10 (1)

Portugal edge Russia to be the champions in Group 2

Russia and Portugal brought on an unforgettable fight today at the Rive the Traiao, with the latter winning the thriller to become the champions of group 2 in this Euro Beach Soccer League Terracina 2013. Commanded by a brilliant Belchior, who pulled the reigns of the Portuguese National team in the absence of Madjer, Narciso?s side got 0-3 ahead in the first minutes of the game, what was crucial for the script of the game from then onwards.

It took a while for the helpless Russian side to understand what was going on, and they could not reply until the first break gave them the room enough to breathe and pull themselves together again. One of their most effective weapons, the strategy moves, helped them cut the distance with Shkarin?s 1-3, but the Lusitanians felt that today was the day, and immediately hit back to widen the distance again.

From then on, a balanced stroke exchange kept Portugal always two or three goals ahead, solidly containing the furious Russian attack to finally seal a historic win. Together with the cup they have clinched, the nine points collected give the Portuguese significant options to secure a berth in the EBSL Superfinal, too.

Goals: 0-1: Belchior, min. 8 (1); 0-2: Belchior, min. 8 (1); 0-3: Belchior, min. 6 (1); 1-3: Shkarin, min. 9 (2); 1-4: Lucio, min. 7 (2); 2-4: Eremeev, min. 6 (2); 2-5: Alan, min. 4 (2); 3-5: Bukhlistiy, min. 3 (2); 3-6: Bruno Novo, min. 6 (3); 4-6: Eremeev, min. 6 (3); 4-7: Coimbra, min. 0 (3);

Italy brings brilliant closure to the EBSL Terracina

Italy closed this Euro Beach Soccer League stage they have hosted in Terracina in a truly brilliant fashion. The Azzurri, despite having no access to the lead in Group 1, edged the competitive Ukraine to bag three more points that get them on a comfortable place to attempt the assault to the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal in their next appearance in The Hague.

Soria lit the party up with the opener with five minutes to go in the first period, but Riabchuk let the hosts know that they were not thinking on being just a mere bump on a log. Indeed, Medvid managed to silence the 3000-seater stadium with Ukraine?s 2-1, getting Kucherenko?s side on command under the second hooter.

The third time brought on the Italian momentum, though, with Ramacciotti leading the Azzurri reaction. The Viareggio player leveled the score back in the first minute of that last leg, to sweep his side ahead minutes afterwards. Despite the Ukrainians tried to combat the hosts dominion seeking a victory that would have gave them the lead in Group 1, Platania sealed the victory for Esposito?s squad, thus closing sweetly this Euro Beach Soccer League stage held in Terracina.

Goals: 1-0: Soria, min. 5 (1); 1-1: Riabchuk, min. 1 (1); 2-1: Medvid, min. 2 (2); 2-2: Ramacciotti, min. 11 (3); 3-2: Ramacciotti, min. 3 (3); 4-2: Platania, 1 (3);

DIVISION B

Goal shower makes Israel champions of this first Division B stage!

A 15-goal thriller gave Israel the Division B cup in this Euro Beach Soccer League 2013. In the decider of this second stage of the season, the Israeli bent Turkey 6-9, thus securing the highest place in the group and, consequently, the first ticket to the EBSL Promotion Final of Torredembarra, where they will fight for a place in Division A next season. Turkey will not miss the decider in August, either, as the second position grants them a berth in the fight for promotion.

The game started in high pace, already. Israeli and Turkish hardly gave the spectators time to blink, as goals were continually falling at one and the other. Despite the 0-2 run by Israel, Turkey counteracted through a stunning hat-trick by Cem to turn the score around. Yatim wanted to play the three-hit game, too, and got his side ahead once again, with Levi and Shina following the way to widen the gap to 3-6.

As of that moment, and despite the Turkish fierce resistance, Israel would stay in command, replying any attempt by their opponents to begin building a comeback. The final whistle, then gave them the glory in this Division B pool of the second stage of the Euro Beach Soccer League.

Goals: 0-1: Yatim, min. 7 (1); 0-2: Fartok, min. 4 (1); 1-2: Cem, min. 0 (1); 2-2: Cem, min. 9 (2); 2-3: Cem, min. 8 (2); 3-3: Yatim, min. 8 (2); 3-4: Yatim, min. 7 (2); 3-5: Levi, min. 6 (2); 3-6: Shina, min. 4 (2); 4-6: Volkan, min. 0 (2); 4-7: Lam, min. 9 (3); 5-7: Volkan, min. 6 (3); 5-8: Volkan, min. 5 (3); 6-8: Adil, min. 5 (3); 6-9: Danin, min. 0 (3);

Insufficient penalty-kick win for Hungary

A laudable come-back, and a penalty kick win were not enough for Hungary to clinch the second place in the Division B group of this Euro Beach Soccer League Terracina 2013. Overcoming a surprising resistance by Azerbijan, the booty collected was too scarce for Hungary, who saw Turkey follow Israel into the Promotion Final.

Azerbaijan were truly determined to upset Hungary today, as they clearly stated with a 3-0 run in the first stages of the game. The Magyar realized what they were losing at that point and brought on a brilliant reaction to turn the score around.  But with two minutes to go, Orkhan stung again to bring Weisz?s side a major upset. With the two sides locked together, four apiece, in the end of the regular time, one thing was already defined: Turkey would occupy the second place in the group, what denied Hungary their chances to get into Promotion Final.

All that thorough fight for the win by both during the three periods and the extra time seemed to turn into a funny competition of missed penalties. Unbelievably enough, the first seven attempts were either sent out or saved by the keeper. It was not until the eighth shot, taken by Sebestyen, that the ball hit the back of the net, thus giving the two points at stake to the Magyar. The victory was not enough for them to seal their pass to the Promotion Final, though.

Goals: 1-0: Jomard, min. 7 (1); 2-0: Orkhan, min. 3 (1); 3-0: Jomard, min. 1 (1); 3-1: Simonyi, min. 1 (1); 3-2: Besenyei, min. 7 (2); 3-3: Berkes, min. 8 (3); 4-3: Berkes, min. 6 (3); 4-4: Orkhan, min. 2 (3);

Penalty kick shootout: Jomard, out; Besenyei, out; Amid, Borszeki saves; Simonyi, Emin saves; Asif, out; Berkes, Emin saves; Ramil, Borszeki saves; Sebestyen, in;
