The Brainois club beat Braine-le-Châteauteau in the final at the weekend
Saturday 28 August the last two matches of the Belgian Cup were contended in Genappe; one to decide third place on the podium and the other to claim the main prize.
The grand final was fought between Braine-le-Châteauteau and NewTeam RCS Brainois. NewTeam scored the first goal, which set the pace for the rest of the game.
The Brainois club put away no less than 11 goals to claim the Belgian Cup while Braine-le-Châteauteau managed just five.
As a prelude to the final, FC Genappe took the opportunity to open a brand-new permanent beach soccer facility. It is a magnificent site with maximum dimensions that can host international events.
In mid-afternoon, the playoff for third place could begin, as LPN Waterloo took on RAAL La Louvière. Normal time ended with the score a 4-4, and extra time could not decide the winner, so the match went to a penalty shootout where LPN finally emerged victorious.
