The Leões will use local beach soccer school run by the Portuguese captain to develop their beach soccer team
The future is now for beach soccer in Portugal as an agreement between giant Sporting Clube and Madjer-run beach soccer school, A Escolinha do Madjer, has been announced. After this agreement, the captain of the national team will now be in charge of running the beach soccer wing for the renowned club in Portugal.
The school will serve as a feeder into Sporting, for both men and women. Training and development are the key projects aimed to provide skilled players for the main club. The Portuguese star is up to the task as he is already recognized throughout the beach soccer world as being one of the most talented and hardest working players. His experience on the pitch is just one facet of his beach soccer personality as he has been teaching and training students of the game within his school for many years.
Easier said than done for Sporting, and ultimately Madjer, is to first get Portuguese crown back, and eventually earn a coveted spot in the Euros Winners Cup, and then get back into the Mundialito de Clubes. As beach soccer grows it is important to have a great ambassador like Madjer, and he understands what this agreements means, saying, “This is more than just a step for beach soccer around the world but also a huge step for Portugal.” With these new moves coming on, beach soccer is more than ever a sure bet in Portugal.
