The Muscovite beat city rivals Strogino to complete an excellent season after becoming League Champions in July
Leonov and the rest of the gang did not quench their thirst for victories after they made history in Ravenna by clinching the World Cup. Now as a part of the Lokomotiv Moscow, most of the members of the Russian National team, together with the National Coach, Mikhail Likhachev, and the star signing of the Portuguese starlet Madjer raised the Russian Cup some days ago in the city of Anapa. The also-Muscovite Strogino, with players such as the Brazilians Buru or Bruno Xavier had little chance against inspired Lokomotive. A 7-0 run, only contested by Bruno Xavier with the 7-2, was more than enough to add a new trophy to the club’s records and complete an excellent season in which they claimed the League Cup in May, again with Strogino as runner-up.
In this last edition, up to 23 teams took place in the Russian Cup, taking into consideration tboth the qualifying and the final rounds. Former champions Krilya Sovetov snatched the bronze position after tightly beating Nevskyi Front in the 3rd/4th place final.
Together with the Champions’ Cup, Lokomotiv representatives also collected two individual awards: The MVP trophy went to Madjer’s hands and Bukhlistkiy, just like in this last FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, was elected the best goalkeeper of the tournament. The Brazilian Fernando DDi, from Krylia Sovetov, was the Cup’s top scorer after bagging 14 goals for the Samaran.
