Grown-up Tahiti keep expectations high

The Tiki Toa won all the three matches against France during the weekend and re-confirmed they are ready for everything

The Tahiti National Beach Soccer reconfirmed they are ready to target something big in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 they are hosting next September. Three victories in three matches against France re-confirmed the Tiki Toa bank talent and spirit enough to contest any team in the global panorama.

After clearly beating Les Bleus on Thursday (7-3), in the first of the friendly games, the Polynesian side kept in the same mood during the whole weekend, upsetting the European twice again.

In the game on Friday, despite the hosts bagged the win again, things were much tighter. Although the 2-0 advantage in the first stage of the game, the French reaction pushed the game to a much narrower definition. In the third period, François? lads leveled the score for the first time, but Tahiti managed to be step ahead once and again after each of the French equalizers, to finally seal the victory with Zaveroni?s winner 5-4.

Things were much more clear-cut in the last of the matches, held after the ceremony for the Launch of the Official Match Ball for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013. The Tiki Toa cruised past France (7-2) to close a really satisfying weekend. A 4-0 run during the first stages, with the hits by Zaveroni (2), Naea Bennett and Tearii Labaste got things really uphill for Les Bleus, and, despite Basquaise tried to push the French reaction, but his effort was heavily responded by the Tahitians, who widened the gap to 7-1. Anthony Fayos? 7-2, with less than three minutes to go, was far not enough for the French to aim for the game.

Next test for the Tiki Toa will come in April, when a World Cup team, the Netherlands, will fly to Papeete to tackle a three-leg friendly against the Polynesian.
