Recently named Portuguese National coach face first challenge in Thailand, with the Bang Saen International Beach Soccer Cup
Germany, England and Thailand become the first opponents the newly-appointed Portuguese coach Mário Narciso is to face in the debut ahead of the Lusitanian Beach Soccer side. This upcoming Bang Saen International Beach Soccer Cup means the first chapter of the new Portugal after a bittersweet 2012.
Just arrived to the Technical Direction of the current Euro Beach Soccer Cup Runner-ups in February, Narciso replaces successful José Miguel Mateus, boasting a significant experience in Beach Soccer. For the last six years he was the coach of Portuguese Beach Soccer League champions Vitoria Setúbal, as he has also been many years a technical assistant at top flight national football.
Former International player and Sporting Portugal Luis Bilro and, Zé Miguel?s assistant Tiago Reis will accompany Narciso in this new staff targeting to get Portugal back at the highest place of the European panorama.
With a huge sense of responsibility and an ?enormous pride?, the new man in control acknowledges that ?it is not an easy duty to take Ze Miguel?s place, after the excellent task he did. Our first objective is to keep with this working line but also to push the growth of the club championship, as this is definitely going to be good for the National side.?
First major goal for Narciso-steered Portugal is to get the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup berth back, after a disappointing performance in Moscow last summer will not let them take part in this summer?s showcase: ?Unfortunately, we will not have the chance to compete in the World Cup this year, but we will start working right now to get into 2015?s edition?.
