Russia and Spain progress to next round as the best in their groups, as Switzerland, Germany and Belarus seize wins in Moscow
Belarus overcome Lithuanian comeback to escape with win
Belarus grasped one point from the penalty kick spot after seeing Lithuania neutralize their 3-0 advantage in the last minutes of the final period. The Belarusian side could finally overcome their opponents comeback to escape, at least with one point and remain unbeaten in this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup – Europe Qualifier Moscow.
After Samsonov and Makarevich swept Belarus 2-0 ahead only one minute into the game, nothing seemed to point how difficult would the morning become for Nico Alvarado’s side. Even less, when Samsonov stroke again for his second of the day and Belarus’ 3-0.
But it did. In only five minutes, two goals by Plytnikasand another one for Meskinis sent the game into extra time. Unfortunately for the Lithuanian side, their reaction would end up falling short, as Savich and Samsonov would grasp the last point at stake from the penalty kick spot, confirming Belarus amongst the 16 best teams that progress onto next round.

Superstar Biermann sends Germany onto next round
Christian Biermann got the German National Team onto the Round of 16 of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Europe Qualifier with a magnificent performance today in Moscow. Four goals by the talented forward helped the Mannschaft prevail over Estonia and seize their first win in the competition.
The 2-0 by the end of the first leg got Germany the tranquility to field their best version. Christian Biermann stroke back in the second period with two more goals, and it was not until the 4-0 that Estonia could pull one back.
The Estonian reacted in the third period, though, and got just one goal behind with seconds to go. Notwithstanding, along came Biermann to suffocate that problem for the Germans, and confirm the win and the ticket to next round for the Mannschaft.

Switzerland overcome Turkey’s early lead to secure head of group
The Swiss National team found a tough resistance today in their second game at this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup – Europe Qualifier Moscow. Turkey made things really difficult for most of the game’s first half, even managing to stay ahead as the first period ended.
The Alpine reacted before it was too late, and a 3-0 run, with goals by Borer, Ostgen and Steinemann turned the score around, giving Schirinzi’s side a two-goal advantage to defend in the third period.
None of the Turkish attempts in that last stage was successful, and Switzerland kept things under control to walk to a new win, that gives them six more points, the head of the group (which they will have to defend against Poland tomorrow) and the ticket to the next round.

Spain, the best in Group D
The Spanish National side closed their group stage spell securing the head of the table, thanks to a wide and entertaining 10-5 over Azerbaijan. The men from the Land of Fire offered a notable resistance, though, and managed to make the most of their chances to cut the distance in the score once and again.
The 3-0 advantage brought by the Torredembarra trio Llorenç, Edu and Adri Frutos was the key of the Spaniard’s dominion. From that moment on, the stroke exchange would do nothing but get them closer to the victory.
Joaquin Alonso’s side managed to keep Azerbaijan at a safe distance for all the remaining time, thus securing yet another win in the competition and, at the same time, the access to the next round as the best team in the group.

Russia stay perfect to top group
Hosts Russia progressed to the Round of 16 of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup – Europe Qualifier Moscow 2019 as the undisputed best team of their group. A new win today, 5-1 over Hungary, have Likhachev’s side al almost perfect record, with three wins in three matches, 18 goals scored and only 5 conceded.
Just like they want to make it, Russia seized an early lead this evening. Kiryll Romanov hit twice during the first minutes to have the hosts comfortably ahead as the first period ended.
Maksim Chuzkhov and Boris Nikonorov added in the second leg, doubling an already wide distance and making the score 4-0. Genczler pulled one back for the Magyar, but that little effort ended up as a meaningless audacity against the Russian dominion.
In the last period, Dimitry Shishin made it even more clear for Likhachev’s side, that close this first stage of the competition with terrific records.
