Defending champions Grasshoppers Club Zurich, plus Bern Based Sable Dancers and Chargers, from Basel, earned a prominent position in the table of the Swiss Beach Soccer League, after the first week of the competition. The matches last weekend took place in Jona, putting 12 teams into competition.
Dejan Stankovic stunning performance had much to do with Grasshoppers Club bagging the six points at stake. Four goals by the left-footed bomber had the Zurich, upset consistent Scorpions, one of the best teams in last season. In the games on Saturday, Grasshoppers faced a really tough time to bend hosts BSC Jona, something they managed with only a one-goal difference.
