Egypt and Senegal win friendlies in warm up to FIFA World Cup CAF Qualifier in Sharm El Sheikh
A week ahead of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, to be held in Sharm El Sheikh Egypt between the 8th and 14th of December, some of the participating nations came together to get in some competitive practice before the real thing.
The Africa Cup of Nations 2018 will not only crown the kings of the continent, but also serve as a qualifier for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which will take place in Paraguay in late November 2019.
However, only two sides will qualify to represent the continent, and hosts Egypt and current African champions, Senegal, gained early confidence boosts by seeing off their opponents in friendly matchups.
Egypt took four victories out of four against Lebanon while Senegal played two matches against a strong Moroccan team, who held them to a draw at 5-5, which was left as a draw when the sides decided to end the game, a very unusual outcome in beach soccer, not being an option in competitive games.
In their second bout, Senegal won by eight goals to one, putting them in good stead for the coming competition.
FRIENDLY RESULTS
Egypt 5 v 3 Lebanon
Egypt 5 v 3 Lebanon
Egypt 8 v 2 Lebanon
Egypt 7 v 1 Lebanon
