Four contenders vie for two tickets!

USA-Costa Rica and Mexico-El Salvador will pass sentence on the two CONCACAF representatives flying to World Cup

El Salvador work the miracle!

El Salvador was almost out of the tournament after their defeat against Costa Rica early today. Things were almost impossible for Rudis Gallo?s side at that point, but USA lent the Cuscatleco a valuable hand by loudly bending the Bahamas (2-9) and giving the chance to the Salvadorians to wrestle a place in the semifinals. To achieve so, they had to win Jamaica with a distance wider than three goals.

The Azul Playera had missed the first opportunity, and they were determined not to miss the second one. But it was never easy for Gallo and his lads, as Jamaica wanted to deny their accessing the next round. A 2-0 advantage by the Salvadorian was quickly equalized by the Reggae boys, and minutes were ticking down for the Cuscatleco. Every time they managed a two-goal distance, along came the Jamaicans to cut the gap, as the anxiety in El Salvador grew in inverse proportion to the time remaining?

Just when it seemed the Salvadorians would fell a couple of goals short, a magic 3-0 run, with just four minutes left, achieved the impossible and pushed the fourth-ranked in the last World Cup onto the semifinals of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONCACAF Qualifier Bahamas. There, El Salvador will battle defending champions Mexico, all or nothing, for a ticket to Papeete.

USA storm into semifinals and make life difficult for Bahamas (2-9)

The US National Beach Soccer Team sealed the ticket to the semifinals in a brilliant fashion. After a new solid display on Malcom?s Park, Eddie Soto?s lads earned a place among the best four sides in this CONCACAF Qualifier Bahamas, and, consequently, the opportunity to fight for a berth in the upcoming FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 Tahiti.

Both Bahamas and USA battled for the head of group A, but the efficiency by the Northern American caught the hosts by surprise. Yet in the first minutes of the game, USA stepped ahead thanks to Perera?s and Valentine?s contributions for the 0-2. St Fleur lit the Bahamians expectations with the 1-2 right before the first break, but their happiness was not to last too long?Three minutes into the second leg, Perera and Taguinod would widen the gap to 1-5, with Chimienti bagging the 1-6 little afterwards.

The United States consolidated their lead in the last period. Despite Christie?s relpy for the Caribbean, things were absolutely unleveled at that point, with two more hits by Perera and Chimienty closing a loud 2-9 that ended up even preventing the hosts the access to semifinals. This last result, in combination with El Salvador?s 8-4 win over Jamaica in the last game, let Ceciliano?s lads out of the race, and will now fight Guatemala for the fifth place.

Goals: 0-1: Perera, min. 7 (1); 0-2: Valentine, min. 5 (1); 1-2: St. Fleur, min. 0 (1); 1-3: Perera, min. 9 (2); 1-4: Taguinod, min. 8 (2); 1-5: Taguinod, min. 8 (2); 1-6: Chimienti, min. 2 (2); 1-7: Meister, min. 9 (3); 2-7: Christie, min. 8 (3); 2-8: Perera, min. 4 (3); 2-9: Chimienti, min. 0 (3)

Costa Rica upset El Salvador to seal ticket to semifinals

Costa Rica will be again in the semifinals of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup CONCACAF Qualifier, after the brilliant victory brought on today against one of the earmarked favourites of the competition: El Salvador. The result was highly surprising, not because Costa Rica could not win the Cuscatleco, what they certainly can, but because such a wide distance was highly unexpected between such two balanced forces.

Seeing the first period of the game, very few could have foreseen the final outcome of the match. The Azul Playera seemed solid, determined to secure their go-through to semifinals, and managed a comfortable 3-1 after Frank?s opener. But as the second leg began, the sky got stormy over Salvadorian heads, and the afternoon became a true nightmare. Costa Rica turned the score around in that second period, while the helpless Cuscatleco could only try to hardly keep afloat.

The Tico bombing went on in the last stage of the game, widening the Salvadorian wound. With the final 5-12, Costa Rica was in, and there was only a narrow door in for the Salvadorians. But they did amazingly pass through it, as their win later on against Jamaica (8-4) got them amongst the best four, too.

Goals: 1-0: Frank, min. 7 (1); 1-1: Mendoza, min. 7 (1); 2-1: Frank, min. 1 (2); 3-1: Torres, min. 11 (2); 3-2: Pacheco, min. 11 (2); 3-3: Mendoza, min. 8 (2); 3-4: López, min. 7 (2); 3-5: López, min. 6 (2); 4-5: Hernández, min. 5 (2); 4-6: Pacheco, min. 5 (2); 4-7: Mora, min. 4 (2); 5-7: Torres, min. 1 (2); 5-8: Pacheco, min. 6 (3); 5-9: Mena, min. 5 (3); 5-10: Mendoza, min. 3 (3); 5-11: Johnson, min. 2 (3); 5-12: Pacheco, min. 0 (3);

Guatemala close group stage with loud win over Puerto Rico

The Guatemalan National team could finally seize their first points in the competition after hammering Puerto Rico in the last group stage day. The victory clinched by the Chapines was wide enough to get them fighting for the fifth place against Bahamas.

Puerto Rico never had a true chance to really battle the Guatemalan dominion. An especially inspired Valencia, with four goals, and a 5-1 run at the end of the second leg were too much to cope with for the Puerto Rican. But not enough for Guatemala, though, as four more goals in the last minutes finished any eventual option for their opponents.

These three points, and a notable goal average, grant Guatemala the chance to contest hosts Bahamas for the fifth place in the tournament (Sunday, 14:30). Puerto Rico, in turn, will have to fight Jamaica to skip last place in this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup ? CONCACAF Qualifier Bahamas (Saturday, 13:15).

Goals: 1-0: Samayoa, min. 11 (1); 2-0: Valencia, min. 6 (1); 3-0: Suriano, min. 10 (2); 4-0: Valencia, min. 4 (2); 4-1: Valencia, min. 4 (2); 5-1: Pineda, min. 1 (2); 6-1: Valencia, min. 10 (3); 7-1: Samayoa, min. 8 (3);  8-1: Perez, min. 7 (3); 9-1: Ramírez, min. 1 (3); 9-2: A. Torres, min. 1 (3);

Canada and Trinidad & Tobago exchange strokes to end up fighting for same goal

Canada and Trinidad & Tobago contested today for the second place in group B of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONCACAF Qualifier Bahamas, with the Trinidadian getting a better aggregate score after the double clash today in Malcom?s Park.

The Canadian side hit first, edging Trinidad & Tobago 8-5 in the first game in the morning. Yannick?s boisterous performance, with four goals, led the North American to earn their first three points in the competition. But in the second chance, Soares?s side paid their opponents back with an undisputable 5-0. Appo was the key man for the Caribbean side this time, scoring five goals.

The combination of both scores gets Trinidad & Tobago the second place in the group, but a new combat tomorrow, in the play-off for the seventh place in the competition, will pass sentence on who laughs last in this fight.
