The tournament comprised seven teams of the West Asia region, with Oman as the runner ups
Iran prevailed in the West Asian Football Federations Cup, held this last week in Teheran. Seven teams joined the competition, featuring 13 matches.
The Persian side led a brilliant run all along the tournament, winning all their matches. After topping group A, the hosts bent Guga?s Bahrain in semifinals to face Oman in the final. The Omani, in turn, had run past Palestine in the other semifinal.
The decider of this WAFF Cup was terribly balanced, and only a penalty kick shootout had the cup stay at Iranian hands.
