The Beach Soccer Foundation and the city of Espinho brought together players, referees, , cheerleaders and event organizers for an unforgettable project
Giving back to the community is something that The Beach Soccer Foundation prides itself on and this event in Portugal is just one more example of that. Before the XIX Mundialito begins tomorrow, the community was strengthened as was the bond between beach soccer and everyone involved on the warm summer afternoon in Espinho on July 24th. Portugal, like many other countries, understands the importance of the environment and the connection that it inherently shares with sport. “The beach is our home, it is where we live, and we need to take care of it” was the message by everyone involved.
The Clean the Beach Project was coordinated by The Beach Soccer Foundation with the sole purpose of beautifying the area. A litter-free beach is a fun beach and a fun beach is a full beach. The desire for everyone to improve the beaches was extremely evident as all of the participants, including locals, were volunteering their own time and energy to improve the shoreline.
As one of the driving forces in beach soccer, Portugal is able to use this simple evening activity as an example of an easy way to show everyone how important beaches and beach soccer are to the Portuguese. Of the possible things to emulate, volunteer work at a Clean the Beach event is something nearly everyone can do.
