The former President of the FIGC and the LND died at the age of 79
The world of beach soccer woke up to the sad news that Carlo Tavecchio has passed away.
Born in Ponte Lambro, Italy in 1943, Carlo Tavecchio was a true friend of beach soccer. He was responsible for Italy to be the first Football Association to officially join the sport in 2005 and for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2011 in Ravenna, Italy.
Carlo Tavecchio was President of the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC, the Italian Football Association) between 2014 and 2017 and President of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti (LND) between 1999 and 2014. Tavecchio was currently President of the LND Lombardia where he had already been until 1999.
Our most heartfelt condolences go to the family and friends of Carlo Tavecchio on this sad day for the beach soccer family.
