BSWW intend to stage all possible events, always following regulations from global institutions and governments, with the option of extending season until February 2021
Like the rest of the sporting world, beach soccer is suffering from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic which is affecting the entire globe.
But despite the adverse conditions, Beach Soccer World Wide continue to work towards finding the best way forward for the sport, to ensure that everything is ready to kick into action as soon as the conditions allow this to happen in a secure way.
With the safety of the athletes, spectators and everyone involved in beach soccer as the main priority, Beach Soccer World Wide will always follow the recommendations and instructions of the national governments and the International health authorities.
“It is our responsibility to think about everyone’s primary interests and we will never put our people’s safety at risk. Although our desire is to see beach soccer take place again as soon as possible, we will scrupulously follow the steps outlined by governments and international and local health organisations”, BSWW president Joan Cusco said.
Taking all of this into consideration, Beach Soccer World Wide is planning the season with the idea of staging the first competitions in early September. The final number of stages and venues of the Euro Beach Soccer League will be defined at a later date, as well as the confirmed dates of the Women’s Euro Beach Soccer Cup and the Euro Winners Cup, for which Nazaré remains as the expected venue.
BSWW is also considering an extension of the 2020 season until January/February 2021, so as to increase the chance of the maximum number of competitions taking place within those months, with the possibility of staging some events indoor.
In relation to the scheduled events so far, the Madjer Beach Soccer Cup, which was originally scheduled for 18-21 of June, will most probably be postponed to 2021, as allocating a weekend was too challenging for the local organising committee this year.
However, the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup is still planned to go ahead in 2020, and the final dates will be confirmed soon.
In the same line, the NASSC, which was previously scheduled for 5-7 June, has been postponed to the second weekend of August (7-9), with the US Open (the pro competition) being moved to 2021.
