Changes in the laws of Beach Soccer show progess and forward thinking in the sport as a whole
In collaboration with the Sub-Committee of The International Football Association Board and the FIFA Refereeing Department, the FIFA Beach Soccer Committee has revised the Beach Soccer Laws of the Game 2014.
In an attempt to make the game faster and fairer, FIFA has amended the rules of beach soccer. The new laws are currently being utilized in the Euro Beach Soccer League season. The changes have shown the willingness of the sport to improve and create an even better on the field product. These changes also aim to make the game easier to understand and will help grow the sport even more.
The changes make the game quicker, better for the fans, and the uniformity is perfect for the players. Some of the changes include a four second time limit for taking set pieces and possession in own area, goalies are no longer allowed to bring the ball back into their own area after taking it outside, and there are added protections now for players in the middle of bicycle kick. New regulations also allow for a tie, but that decision will be made by the event itself, and now on direct kicks taken in a teams´ own half the referee will signal for a cone to be made from the spot of the ball to the corner flags and all players must be on the outside of the imaginary line until the ball strikes the ground, a player, or the goalkeeper.
