FIFA president, Joseph S. Blatter, highlighted again this possibility ahead the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012 final
On the morning of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012 final, FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter held a press conference at FIFA?s tournament headquarters in Bangkok. There, FIFA?s maximum representative talked again about the possibility of having Beach Soccer included into the Olympic program, an objective for which thorough work is being done, together with other disciplines under the FIFA umbrella.
Specifically about beach soccer, though, he added that the same facilities could be shared with other sports, just as it happens in many Olympic disciplines, what increases its possibilities: ?We are already trying to bring in beach soccer to the Olympics, as we could use the same stadia they are using for beach volleyball?.
Beach Soccer?s inclusion in the Olympic Games is a dream which gets every day closer to become reality. All steps taken so far have been positively regarded by the highest sports bodies worldwide, but there is still work to tackle. The sport?s growing popularity and presence all around the world pushes it closer to the Five Olympic Rings, with key showcase in events such as the Asian Beach Games, organized by the Olympic Council of Asia, or the Juegos Suramericanos de Playa, set up by the ODESUR.
