Areguá earns 3rd Paraguayan National League Championship

Casa España and Areguá made for a fantastic finale that capped the National League Season in Paraguay

Areguá is champion for the third time in the history of the  Paraguayan National League by winning the seventh edition on their own soil. They did so via penalties after an emotional tie at five goals apiece in regular time. The three periods of twelve minutes, and the extra time of three minutes could not separate the clubs but a 3-2 shootout for Areguá settled matters, giving the hosts a well-deserved and appropriate ending to the season.

In normal time Roberto Sanchez scored twice, to go along with Sergio Villaverde Gonzalez, Victor Manuel Gomez, and Mariano Barrientos for Los Trinidenses, and for the eventual champs, Raul Fretes scored twice along with Evelio Chavez, Ever Barrientos, and Ever Benitez. Neither side was able to score in the extra frame, leaving the score at 5-5 going into penalties.

The third place trophy went to Itaugua who beat Villlarrica by a score of 7-4. The latest season was a successful collaboration with all the important decision makers within the APF and the beach soccer responsibles in Paraguay.
