Men and women competed in an elite tournament on the sand of the Itauguá Club Olimpia on Saturday
In an event organized by the Paraguayan Division of Beach Soccer Football Association (APF) and the Interior Football Union (UFI) men and women´s teams jostled for the coveted title of champion in this very prestigious Paraguayan Beach Soccer tournament, which highlights the strong will the National association has to develop beach soccer.
On the female side, Areguá (2014 national champion) squeaked by Encarnation (2012 and 2013 National Champion) 4-3, in a one game showdown. The aregüeño team had four spectacular goals that were converted by Liz Sosa and a hat-trick from Karen Ruiz Diaz. The encarnacenas scored with three different players, Veronica Baez, Adriana Caceres and Mara Talavera in the losing effort.
The men finished the second leg on Saturday, but the first leg was played last Thursday at the Sajonia Sports Arena. In a match closer than the score indicates, Itauguá beat Deportivo Sajonia by a score of 6-2.
In the second leg, Itauguá (2014 National League champion) won 5-2 against Deportivo Sajonia (2013 APF official tournament champion) , in the second leg in the series. Pedro Morán scored twice for the itaugüeños to coincide with goals from Evelio Chavez, Carlos Rivas and Jesus Rolon. Mazzacotte and Oscar Manuel Lopez netted the two goals for the sajones.
