12 teams to square off at the Euro Beach Soccer League Moldova

The state-of-the-art stadium in Chisinau gets ready for the largest ever international beach soccer event in Moldova


The battle to reach the Euro Beach Soccer League Promotion Final will be held in Chisinau (Moldova) between 28 July and 1 August. 12 teams will travel to the world-class stadium in the Moldovan capital for a Euro Beach Soccer League – Division B stage that promises to be truly spectacular.

Besides hosts Moldova, Greece, Czech Republic, Romania, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Slovakia are ready to provide a magnificent beach soccer show in the state-of-the-art facilities at La Izvor Park, one of the most impressive stadiums in Europe.  

The twelve participating teams were drawn into three groups of four teams, and the group stage will be followed by the semi-finals and finals. The match schedule has also been released, with Romania and Estonia opening the competition (28 July – 12:00pm local time) and the hosts will take on Slovakia in their first game.   

The best seven teams in Chisinau will automatically seal spots to fight for Division A promotion in the coming Euro Beach Soccer League Promotion Final, which is set to take place in Figueira da Foz in September. 

The president of the Moldovan Football Association, Leonid Oleinicenco explained the important occasion this Euro Beach Soccer League stage means for the development of the sport in the country. “The Moldovan Football Association continues to implement the Strategy of development of football in the Republic of Moldova, according to the established program. So, we agreed with Beach Soccer Worldwide the possibility to host a worldwide competition in Chisinau, which will be the largest international beach soccer tournament ever hosted by our country. All this in the context of a massive promotion of the Republic of Moldova on the international level handled by the Moldovan Football Association, for the benefit of the country and its citizens. Indeed promoting Moldova, our capital, and healthy lifestyle is the purpose of organizing the European Beach Soccer League in Chisinau. Also, I would like to congratulate the Nistru team for their meritorious participation at the Euro Winners Cup, which takes place these days in Nazare, Portugal. FMF have provided the travel of two Moldovan teams to this competition for the second year in a row. We hope that the experience gained by our players will help our national team at the European Championships in Chisinau. Hai, Moldova!”, he said.

In turn, Joan Cusco, president of Beach Soccer Worldwide, highlighted the huge step it is for the sport to incorporate such a special venue and nation into the beach soccer scene. “Moldova and the Moldovan Football Association have shown great commitment to the sport, not only with their work on the sand but also for having built such an excellent permanent stadium. We are extremely thankful to president Leonid Oleinicenco and all the team at the Moldovan FA for this significant step, which means another great development for Beach Soccer.
