Group A
Georgia win 6-1 against Latvia.
Host nation Georgia took to the sands in front of an excited home crowd as they faced Latvia to get Group A action started.

It was an opening period to remember for Makharadze, as he netted a fantastic hat-trick within the opening 12 minutes to give Georgia a 3-0 lead. He found his opening goal within the opening four minutes of the game as he tucked the ball home from close-range, slotted the ball under the goalkeeper for his second and netted the third with an emphatic bicycle kick.

The Georgians were successful in the second phase of play too, as Partenadze’s brace meant that they led 5-0 heading into the final period

Grīslis netted Latvia’s first goal in the match, before Zhordania restored Georgia’s five-goal advantage to seal the three points.

Group B
UAE win 4-2 against Saudi Arabia.
The opening match of the competition saw UAE take on Saudi Arabia in the brand-new Batumi Beach Arena.

It took until the second period in the fixture for the deadlock to be broken and it was Kamal give UAE the lead, slamming the ball home. The lead was doubled with eight seconds to go in the period as Ahmed Beshr made the score 2-0.

Abdulla increased the advantage with less than four minutes played in the third and final period, as Eslam netted Saudi Arabia’s first goal of the tournament. Following a low cross, Eslam turned the ball into his own net to give UAE a 4-1 as Alhamami’s strike moments later proved to only be consolation for Saudi Arabia in the end.

Ukraine win 6-1 against Lebanon.
The final match of the opening day saw Lebanon face Ukraine in Group B.

The Ukrainians burst out the blocks in the first period as Zborovskyi fired the ball into the Lebanese net inside the first minute. Shcherytsia doubled the lead less than minute later, as Zborovskyi achieved his brace in the closing seconds of the period.
