Group A
Ukraine win 4-1 against England.
In their last group game, England was looking to secure a win in Nazare. But two strikes from Terekh; Ukraine’s 16-year-old goalkeeper sensation and a goals each from Kostiuk and Kliachenko decided the game in Ukraine’s favour.
England’s consolation goal came from Fisher, assisted by Povey earlier in the second period, which would be the final goal of the match.
Portugal win 3-1 against Poland.
Host Portugal and Poland went toe-to-toe in the final match of the regular season. Poland got an early goal from Swit, but Ferreira’s strike in the last minute of the first period levelled the score at 1-1 going into the second period.
The scoreline remained the same until Inês found the back of the net, late in the second period, and put Portugal in the lead again and giving the home crowd something to cheer for. Flores’s late goal in the third and final period confirmed victory for the hosts, as fans joined in the final countdown that ended the game, securing them the silver medal.
Group B
Switzerland win 5-1 against Netherlands.
The game between Netherlands and Switzerland kicked off the last day in Nazare, with the Swiz dominating the game early. An own goal by the Netherlands and two goals by the duo of Morger and Bühler gave Switzerland a 3-0 comfortable lead.
Netherlands’s goal by Jona in the third period could not do them any good, as Bucher’s brace sealed the victory for Switzerland, earning them 6 points and finishing second behind Spain in Group B.
Spain win 7-2 against Czechia.
In the last match of Group B between Spain and Czech, Natalia recorded an early goal in the first period. However, Pychova’s goal for the Czechs quickly levelled the scoreline. But the own goal conceded by Potychova put Spain ahead, and Paqui’s goal gave them a comfortable lead. And just before the end of the second period, Kozarova’s strike added another goal for the Czech.
In the third and final period, Paqui’s brace and goals from Chris, Andrea sealed victory for Spain, earning all nine points from Group B and clinching the title of the Women’s Euro Beach Soccer League Nazare 2024.
