October will see the second edition of the global club competition touch down in Turkey
A second year of the World Winners Cup action has been announced. The competition, which sees beach soccer clubs from all over the globe compete against each other, will return to the Turkish coastal town of Alanya.
The huge success of the 2019 edition, where the men of Flamengo (BRA) and the women of Pavia Lokrians (ITA) won the maiden World Winners crowns, means that Alanya will no doubt be the perfect venue for a growing competition.
The event is set to take place from 12 – 18 October 2020, with both a men’s and a women’s competition, and promises to be even bigger and better than the first edition.
A full list of teams and the match schedule will be released in the weeks leading up to the event, and the competition format will depend on the number of participating clubs, but will follow the group stage and play-offs system.
The World Winners Cup will be open to all the clubs that wish to take part in the event. Just as in the Euro Winners Cup, the teams need to be sanctioned and approved by their respective National Football Association.
As well as this, any European team who wishes to compete in the 2020 World Winners Cup must have competed in the 2020 Euro Winners Cup, which is set to be held in Portugal in late May.
