Workshop kicks off final day of festivities

The second and last day of the III FIFA Beach Soccer Workshop was enthralling, informative, and the perfect beginning to the last day in Dubai

Joan Cusco, BSWW Executive Vice President and FIFA Beach Soccer Committee member summed up everything appropriately, saying, “Every step is a victory. Small or big, it’s a step and that is what we need and want.” The seminar included open discussions and went through the thoughts of every important leader in beach soccer, from players such as Madjer of Portugal, to P. Shahriari, Iranian Football Federation Head of Beach Soccer. All parties spoke of their involvement in the game and the future of the sport.

“A house is not built from the roof down.” Brent Rahim of FIFA Development gave a rousing speech about the programs that are being implemented and the importance of starting at the bottom and going up, to build a solid beach soccer house. The analogy was spot on and all the speakers echoed this sentiment, promoting the sport is needed despite all of the work that has already been started.

The club level of beach soccer was an important topic was touched on throughout the morning and the President of Sporting Club de Portugal, Bruno de Carvalho, said. “The excitement and energy between the fans is simply amazing and as long as we keep promoting that unique atmosphere, more clubs will join and do their part to expand the sport.” David Dein, the former Vice-Chairman of Arsenal FC, said that beach soccer is the airport, on the runway, and it is just getting ready to take off. Those feelings are common in the ever expanding family and community of beach soccer and this event, the workshops, the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2014, and the 1st Beach Soccer Stars event, all set in the beautiful beach soccer hub of Dubai, UAE, agree that beach soccer is taking all the right steps.
