The III Juegos Suramericanos de Playa will take place on Venezuelan soil (13th-24th May), and Beach Soccer will lead the way once more
Vargas, bathed by the Caribbean sea in the northern face of Venezuela, will host the third edition of the Juegos Sueramericanos de Playa, organized by ODESUR (Organización Deportiva Suramericana, the association of National Olympic Committees in South America). The Games will take place between 13th and 24th of May, featuring ten different sports.
The Beach Soccer competition, undeniably one of the most important of this multi-sports event, will take place between the 20th and the 24th of May. Teams have not been officially confirmed yet, but it can be anticipated that all the sides that took part in the last race for the World Cup will for sure vie for the medals in Vargas. All of them, with one idea: snatching Brazil the gold medal clinched in the last Juegos Suramericanos de Playa, held in Manta (Ecuador) in 2011.
In the decider last time, the tetracampeão gave Paraguay no chance at all, with an uncontestable 7-0 win that clearly stated whose hands were grabbing the gold. In the game for the Bronze, Ecuador overpowered Argentina in a tight encounter, leaving the albiceleste with empty hands.
Brazil, who reigned as well in the maiden edition of the Juegos Suramericanos de Playa, held in Montevideo and Punta del Este (Uruguay) in 2009 will then try to defend a territory they have been ruling quite dominantly, exception made of the last FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup CONMEBOL Qualifier, where the Verdeamarela was dethroned by Argentina.
The competition format and the match schedule will be confirmed in due date.
