The Olympic family event will take place in Pescara, Italy from the 28th of August until the 6th of September
The process has been long in motion but as of Saturday, July 18th the official draw was completed in Pescara, Italy. The Games, which are part of the Olympic family of events, are quickly approaching and the final draw provides for much drama to come. The beach soccer portion of the event will begin on the 2nd of September and end on the 6th, to coincide with the closing ceremony. The location of the event is set in the beautiful Pescara, Italy on the Eastern Italian coastline.
Italy is fresh off a fourth place finish in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015 and they have been drawn into a group with Lebanon, Algeria, and Tunisia. One of the top African sides, Morocco, headlines Group B with Egypt, Syria, and Malta. Two European rivals were drawn into the final group, France and Greece. The familiar foes will also have to go through Lybia and Albania if they hope to advance to the knockout stages.
The bronze, silver, and gold medals will all be awarded on the 6th of September and each team will want to do their country proud and take home a medal. The final draw was completed on the Mediterranean White Night and beach soccer is one of the 11 events that is proud to be a part of the Olympic event. There are 24 countries participating in the first ever Mediterranean Beach Games with over 1,300 athletes competing for the gold.
