Salvadorans bend Costa Rica in second matchday to keep commanding the table in Copa Centroamericana
El Salvador National Beach Soccer Team maintained the top spot in the table of the Copa Centro americana de Fútbol Playa yesterday, following a tight win over neighbours and rivals Costa Rica in the second matchday of the competition.
The Cuscatlecos prevailed in a truly balanced game thanks to the hits by Elmer Robles (2) and Ruben Batres. Rachtith Gómez kept the Ticos always close with two goals, but the Costa Rican efforts fell one goal short in the end.
In the other game of the day, Panamá found no major problems in bringing Belize down. A 8-2 win, with goals bu Maquensi (2), Eliecer, Gálvez, Rafael García, Watson and Valencia, left little room for speculation.
Panama and El Salvador, then, will square off today to see who clinches the Copa Centroamericana de Fútbol Playa, with the CONCACAF defending champions needing a win, whereas even a draw would give El Salvador the trophy.
