Training sessions took place under the rain in Recife, as the squads square off for a hard fight over the weekend
The National teams of Portugal, Switzerland Uruguay and Brazil had the chance to test the sand of the Arena de Recife yesterday, in a rainy training session day.
Portugal and Uruguay will combat in the tournament’s opener today. The Celeste, more experienced in the competition, and feeling the responsibility of playing in their own continent, will try to make the Portuguese life really difficult. The breed of the Charrúa players assures a tough fight, and the talented Lusitanians will need to stay at an excellent level if they want to capture the first three points at stake.
Right afterwards, the hosts, who seek to reedit the crown claimed in January in Santos, will take on Switzerland, in a match that will test both team’s level. Reediting the final of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2009 in Dubai, Brazilians and Swiss see a truly demanding debut in the Copa das Naçoes.
As Stephan Meier highlights, “First games are always tricky, and facing Brazil in the first game makes it even more difficult. We are going to have all the crow against us, but we are fully focused. I hope we can begin with a victory“.
