A wide win over Poland help the Spaniards prevail in the triple tie with the Poles and Hungary
Spain needed, at least, a 3-goal wide win over Poland if they wanted to claim the second edition of the Talent Beach Soccer Cup held in Siófok. And that is exactly what Christian Méndez lads got.
After one goal on each end in the opening period, the Spaniards got in control of the game, with a 4-1 run that got them the distance they were longing for.
Despite the Poles tried hard, two more goals by Spain helped them resist Poland’s last assault and secure the victory that would give them the cup.
The result in the first game of the day only left Hungary the chance to fight for bronze. The 2018 champions took on France with the idea of closing the competition with a win, as Donat Deak wanted to secure the top-scorer award, but France seemed to have another plan.
Les Bleus opened the game with a 2-0 run, and the hosts could only react in the second period. France stood still, though, and managed to stay ahead in the strike exchange.
But in the last period, Hungary definitely took off, with a 4-0 run that changed things drastically, giving the hosts the last win in the competition, and, consequently, the third place.
