Samuel Lutz finishing impressive beach soccer career

The Swiss cornerstone player will be stepping away from the game after the 2015 season to focus on other endeavors

The player affectionately known as Sami has announced his retirement from the sport. The Swiss defender officially played in 156  games for the Switzerland National Selection- At 34 years of age, the warrior will remain a bigger than life figure in the annals of Swiss Beach Soccer. He was a staple and integral part of the team in several tournament wins, highlighted by the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Runner-up performance in 2009 and the Euro Beach Soccer League championship team in 2012.

 

Sami will now be spending more time with his family and driving forward in his professional career. Beach Soccer fans everywhere will remember Lutz for his fiery nature, stout defense, and shaved head and he will be missed on the pitch though he will always be a member of the beach soccer family.
