Russia land Moscow Women’s Challenge

A win over Belarus from the penalty kick shootout gets Leonov’s side  the cup

The European queens, Russia, added a new honour to their cabinet after seizing the Moscow Women’s Challenge this afternoon.

The Russian side bent Belarus in the penalty kick shootout of the second game of the competition (which was played in a double leg format) to grasp the Cup.

After yesterday’s 4-1 for Leonov’s side, the 0-0 at the end of the regular time already secured them the title. Notwithstanding, Russia ended up winning today’s game too thanks to the brilliant performance by Silina, named best goalkeeper in the competition, who saved two of the Belarusian attempts during the shootout.
